It only seems right to start our Disney vacation at the Magic Kingdom. We love all four of their parks, but this one just seems to be the heart of Disney.
I love the way they open the park with all the characters arriving on the train and throwing out pixie dust to open the gates. So fun!
To mark another milestone in growing up, this was the first time both of the kids wanted to carry their own bags to the park. Savanna had a little fanny pack and Micah had a backpack. I was VERY nervous that this would only last for an hour or so and then we would be toting their stuff around the rest of the day. Much to my delight, I was wrong! They never even complained! We've sure come a long way from those first Disney trips where we even had to carry THEM around.

We had a family vote and it was unanimous that we start our day with 'Small World'. This was the very first ride Savanna rode when we first came as a family of four when she was only 3 years old. She loved it so much, that when it was over she cried and insisted that we do it again. On the second ride through, she cried when she saw the flower room because she knew that was the end. I think we ended up riding it 4 times in a row that year, and every time we got to the flower room she would cry and say "No flowers! Please no flowers!"
Love that girl!
Micah was ready to go from there straight over to Space Mountain, but we couldn't resist doing a few of the 'classic' rides along the way. After all, there were NO LINES and who wants to back track?
Ready for a bumpy ride in Pooh Bear's Honey Pot!
This might possibly be the last time I share a teacup with our wild children. Let's just say I can take a regular roller coaster ~ even an upside down roller coaster ~ better than that crazy spinning in circles.
Micah was so happy when he finally saw the sign for Space Mountain.
It must have really pumped him up because he thought he was up for the Sword in the Stone Challenge. Better luck next time, Bud!
Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!
Not only is the food incredible, but you get a personal visit with all the Hundred Acre Woods Friends.
We definitely got our entertainment from Tigger! When I said I needed to zoom in for a close up, Tigger grabbed everyone and leaned in toward the camera. Too funny!
He bounced around at our table for quite some time and had us in stitches.
After lunch, we walked over to Main Street just in time to see the parade.
We stopped by the Main Street Barber Shop to have some Pixie Dust sprinkled in Savanna's hair.
Micah wanted a style with colored gel AND pixie dust.
Just in case you were wondering, the pixie dust is FREE and the 'Cool Dude Style' is $8. Now that's a bargain for Disney if you ask me!
After a few more afternoon rides, we decided to head back to the pool for a dip in the pool and a little rest. Magic Kingdom was open until midnight that day, and we knew it was going to be a late night for us all.
We came back a couple hours renewed and refreshed and ready for Disney at dark!
We were so pleasantly surprised at how short the lines were all day. I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes for any ride. Maybe I am a pessimist at heart, because I was anticipating and preparing myself for LONG lines, HOT days, and COMPLAINING children. In an attempt to be PROACTIVE, I challenged the kids to see who could count the most blessings in our day. You know, like if someone random just gave us their fastpass, or if a line was unusually short, or if a cast member did something nice for us, etc... Anyways, the kids took the bait and were so cute about exclaiming "That was a BLESSING!" So much nicer than hearing complaining. We had a little chat about experiencing life with a 'glass is half full' or 'glass is half empty' kind of attitude.
