Camp Kidventure Day 4

Day 4 of Camp we headed down to Sam's Fun City for arcade fun and laser tag.
The last time I played laser tag was about 14 years ago when I was serving as a youth minister. It was an ALL NIGHT laser tag lock in. I seriously don't remember EVER being as tired as I was the day after that crazy event. I remember praying SO hard as I drove the church van filled with teens back to the church the next morning. Would you believe that once I got home and in the driveway, I actually feel asleep in my own car for about an hour. I honestly did not have enough energy to even get up and walk inside.
I have since retired the idea of ALL NIGHT events.
Good, sweet memories, but this chick is just too darn old for that.

Hadley hit the jackpot of 1000 tickets!

We had another fun day at adventure camp!

Camp Kidventure Day 3

On Wednesday, we headed downtown to the TT Wentworth Historical Hands On Museum.

The kids had lots of fun pretending they were some of the early settlers.

We went on a scavenger hunt in the museum looking for diferent specified items. The boys were especially excited when they spotted the rat bones.

We ended our day with a RAINY picinic in the park and a devotion about how the Bible is not just a HISTORY book, but a future book, atlas and map for life, love letter from our Heavenly Father, song book, instruction book for life, etc... and SO MUCH MORE!

Camp Kidventure Day 2

Our desination for Camp Kidventure Day 2 was Oops Alley.
We have visited the bowling alley all 3 years of Sports Camp.
I challenged the kids to see if they could remember the devotions from the past 2 years... Well, BLESS MY SOCKS OFF... they did!
The first year we talked about do we handle life's problems like a bowling ball or a basketball. When tough stuff happens do we bounce back or land with a thud.
Last year we talked about the 10 commandments since there are 10 pins in bowling. They were able to recall them all!!!
Here's our little 10 commandment trick using a little visual imagery...
~
#1 Imaging the #1 point up to God and think 'He's #1!'
~ "Thou shalt have no other God's before me"~
~
#2 Imagine the number 2 shaped as a beautiful golden swan idol.
~"Thou shall make no graven image"
~
#3 Think of the 3 as a mouth or sideways pair of lips.
~"Do not take the name of the Lord in vain."~
~
#4 Think of the 4 as a sail in a sailboat with a big HOLE in it. We should not spend our Sundays out boating on the water.
~"Honor the Sabbath day and keep it HOLY"~
~
#5 Imagine the 5 as the belly of a pregnant mom.
~"Honor your Father and MOTHER"~
~
#6 Turn the 6 on its side and think of a gun.
~"Thou shalt not kill"~
~
#7 is especially funny considering the current events regarding Tiger Woods.
Imagine an angry wife running after her cheating husband with the #7 (or golf club) in her hands.
~"Thou shalt not commit adultery"~
~
#8 Turn the number 8 on its side and think of it as a pair of handcuffs.
~"Thou shalt not steal"~
~
#9 Think of it as a judge's gavel and imagine the judge opening up court by saying 'Do you swear to tell the TRUTH, the whole TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH?'
~"Thou shalt not bear false witness."~
~
#10 think of the numbers like a bat and a ball. Imagine your favorite baseball player and how easy it could be to become envious or COVET his talent.
~"Thou shalt not covet."~

Micah's special technique!

Megan loves kids just about as much as I do and is a HUGE blessing to the children's ministry!

We also got to celebrate Hannah's birthday with all her friends from church.
