Arts Day

So many mixed emotions stir up at the end of every school year.

Excitement for the summer, sadness for the end of a season, but mostly joy and enthusiasm over all of the fun activites that the end of the school year brings.
One of those fun days that our school celebrates each year is Arts Day. We have a day full of artist demonstrations, exhibits, drama, music performances, visual arts, and student art. Exhibits are set up in all the hallways, classrooms, and even outdoors. There is even a hands on area for the students to create their own masterpieces to take home!
The kids loved hearing the motorcross and dragsters cars rev up their engines.

The hands on art area gave the children to create their own sun visors, wire sculptures, paper hats, clay creations, spin art, sidewalk chalk, beaded necklaces, yarn wraps, fish prints, and water tube bracelets.

The kids had a ball rotating through all the hands on fun!

The hallway exhibits included quilters, doll displays, folk instruments, cake decorating, oil paintings, photography, candle making, crochet, needlework, embroidery, knitting, and sewing.

The classroom demonstrations included watercolor painting, pottery making, woodturning, karate, jazz bands, singers and songwriters, folk dancing, and a gospel band.

At the end of the day after our sack lunch picnic, the enitre school gathered in the auditorium for an Arts Day Roundup where several friends gathered to share their performing arts talents. Before the talent showcase began, Brian was called on stage to accept a plaque for our church in recognition of us being a Partner in Education with the school.
Some of my favorites at the Roundup were watching some of my former Kindergarteners demonstrate their karate skills,
listening to friend and songwriter, Sheila, sing a remix of 'Old McDonald's Farm',
and being blessed by two mother/daughter duets sang by lovely ladies and sisters in Christ!
"In My Daughter's Eyes" and "Temporary Home" made for a tearful ending to a sweet and fun day!
